The World Cement Association (WCA) continues to grow its international network of member companies with the recent addition of FLSmidth China, a wholly owned subsidiary of Denmark-based FLSmidth. The market-leading supplier of production facilities, equipment and service solutions for the global mining and cement industries joins WCA as an associate member.
“With FLSmidth, we welcome an important player in the global cement industry to our membership,” said Vincent Lefebvre, WCA chairman. “We share FLSmidth’s commitment to helping deliver sustainable solutions that reduce the environmental impact of cement production, and look forward to working closely with them and our international membership to raise standards in the cement industry around the globe.”
FLSmidth is committed to improving its customers’ productivity, driving down costs and reducing the environmental impact of operations, taking a full life-cycle perspective. The company has developed particular expertise in lowering the carbon footprint associated with production and reducing water usage around operations, as well as easing end-of-line recycling.
“As a leading contributor to cement production around the world, we share responsibility for driving the sector towards more sustainable productivity,” said Cyril Leung, country head of FLSmidth China. “We are inspired by the work already done by the WCA to seek collaborative approaches to some of the central environmental and technological issues and opportunities faced by our industry today, and we look forward to contributing to this global discussion as associate member going forward.”
